Embsay-with-Eastby History Group

The Embsay-with-Eastby History Group is a small but dedicated team of UWHG members (some of who live in Embsay) who have set themselves the immense task of researching the history of the township of Embsay-with-Eastby. This “microhistory” project grew out of UWHG’s Whitfield Syke project of 2010-12. The group had been initially formed to investigate documentary sources for the history of the mill whose remains now stand on the northern shore of Embsay Reservoir, near Skipton, and extend onto the fringes of Embsay Moor above.

The Embsay-with-Eastby History Group operates within the auspices of the UWHG, and are steadily collecting a wide range of sources on all aspects of the township’s history. The ultimate aim is to investigate a very broad range of topics, but the team is small, so we are focusing on a selection of topics.
